Something I wanted to share with you guys.
Today, I decided to add 3 small pieces of rock to my tank. It use to be LR from my old set up that I let dry out since February to get rid of all of the junk in it. Before putting it into my tank, I rinsed it off thoroughly and scrubbed over it with a toothbrush just to get off anything that might be on the surface. As most of you know, I don't have any fish in my tank yet so there isn't any bio-load in there. Below are 3 pictures showing (1) The 3 pieces of rock I added (2) My skimmer just before adding the rock and (3) The skimmer after 10 minutes of adding the rock. It's amazing! If I give it about 20 more minutes or so I'd get some junk in my collection cup from the rock. And just for the record, I removed the excess water from the sump so that the water level would be the same before and after adding the rock.
