I have a 29 gallon that is just over a year old now. I intend this to be a soft coral/mushroom/zoanthid tank. The main tank has about 30 lb LR and there's a 20 gallon sump with another 15lb of LR and a cpr in-sump skimmer. 130 w of PC lighting. Current inhabitants are:

1 tomato clown
1 longnose hawkfish
several hermits and snails
1 toadstool leather
1 kenya tree coral (new addition)
some mushrooms (bottom right corner)
green star polyps (rear of tank on right)
zoanthids

I am being careful to not overstock this tank, my thinking being that a smaller numberl of healthy corals will be nicer than a tank crowded with struggling livestock.
Not to mention that these corals will spread out and fill this tank up. The leather seems particularly exuberant.

Here's what I'm thinking of adding down the road:

a ricordia
1 or 2 more mushrooms
1 or 2 more zoanthids
hawaiian feather duster or similar feather duster

Seem reasonable?

Hope I did that right:confused:

The problem here is that you are keeping some of the most noxious corals in the sea all togther in one small tank. Without large weekly water changes... this will be a brutal toxic soup over time. The Kenyan tree and green star polyp are expecially noxious and in time will burn back every other living thing in the tank. Keep them in check (trim frequently)... use carbon full time (daily) and do consider not keeping htem at all to improve long term success with this mixed coral garden display.

Perhaps keep the leather and the rest of the tank can be shrooms and zoas?

that would work likely well my friend... just keep growth of that leather controlled (heavier blue lights if you like... occasional trimmings outside of the aquarium (never in the display - too noxious))

I've given the tree coral and the gsp to a buddy with a 125g. They should be happier there.
