Pink stylo (cats paw)

I've kept them under t-5 and the seem to do just fine. From what I remember reading about them Stylos are considered an easier SPS to keep and dont require a super bright MH's. I would lump them in with a Bird Nest coral for ease of care. With a quaity t-5 fixture you can keep anything you like.

Hello,
Stylophora species can do quite well under HO T-5 bulbs and have bright colors if kept 12-18" from the bulbs. They also prefer moderate to high water flow.

Kevin

If you have quality bulbs and quality reflectors, it'll grow like mad!! To add a lil' more information:

With quality bulbs (spread across the tank) and quality reflectors, you can grow anything you want, under T5HO. I've been using T5HO for almost 5 years now, growing many species of Acropora. I currently have Acropora growing just fine, on the BOTTOM of my 27" deep tank, under T5HO. However, most of my SPS corals are in the upper half of the tank.

+1 on Michaels statement Kirk but the Pink morph really likes stronger light in a whiter spectrum 10-14K. While I had my lighting more towards a 20K+ it pretty much was purple/brown in color but now that I have two 12K lamps over top its turning HOT Pink once again.

Lighting is very important to coral growth and color but the nutrient levels are the main factor is color shading. Nutrients cause the tissues in corals to darken.
The closer to NSW (natural sea water) you get the lighter and more vibrant the corals will be.
Lets take Kevin's 600 gallon for instance. I am not to sure the exact bulbs he is using but from the look I would guess 10k with supplementation.
You can actually see the water clarity telling you that it is a LNS (low nutrient system).
IMO filtration and water quality is the key factor in coral color. Lighting being secondary.

Frank.
