Place for Glass Baffles for a DYI Sump on the Eastside?

Does anyone have a place they would recomend on the Eastside of Seattle? Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah?

If you don't get the feedback you are looking for I can move your thread into general discussion to get more views or you could maybe try some of the local clubs in your area. They may be able to direct you best. I know the PSAS club is in Washington, but just not sure which area they are in in relation to you, but at least it's a start. Maybe try them. Good luck!

Go to your local McLendons. Butt a sheet of glass and they'll be happy to cut it up into several pieces at no charge. Did it a few weeks ago

You could just look in the phone book and call a few places that are close to you. Most if not all will give quotes over the phone.

Or you could also try One Day Glass out of Vancouver. They do orders from their website and are reasonably priced versus other glass shops and their glass is tempered which is nice.

I would'nt worry about tempered for baffels, way to expensive just make sure to sand the edges or have the glass shop do it.

I agree Don, but One Day Glass only offers tempered and for the prices I've found for my 4 baffles at the local glass shops, the prices for One Day Glass couldn't be beat.

I agree they are good prices for tempered. A tempered 8x12 is only $18 bucks and thats great! I wouldnt pay 18 bucks for a full set of non tempered, maybe the prices are better down south of Seattle.

Yes, You might be correct Don. I checked about 3 different shops here in the Northend and Eastside and they were almost double the price (from non tempered) than that of One Day Glass. *lol*

Thats crazy we just built a 12x12 cube last weekend for $22 + silicone non tempered with ground edges.

Thanks everyone! So any recomendation on how thick the piece should be? I'm thinking 1/3 is fine? And how far apart should they be for the bubble trap? I'm thinking 1" spacing + 1" from the bottom?

i've heard anything over 1/4" is fine. I did mine as 1/4" but it can be fragile / crack easily. Most of the sump build posts note 1" between baffles and 1" from bottom as being optimal.

1/4" glass should be fine. If you call around, ask if they have salvage glass. Can be cheaper.
I used pieces of 2x4's to hold the baffles off the bottom of the sump and to space them apart. 1-1/2"

+1 on the 1 1/2'' space IMO 1'' is just a tad to small and 2'' is over kill.
