I recently had a tank crash that I estimating killed about half of the stuff in the tank. I noticed alot of my pods were dead on the sand. So I am trying to find someone in the Lynnwood/Everett area who wouldnt mind parting with a few of the little creatures maybe living in macro algae. Also is there a quick way to get the population back up? Or should I buy a container of pods online?

The crash came from the fact i had a film on the water surface(vegatable oil). I did a water change and didnt notice it...son used one of my water containers for oil and didnt tell me. and i was working on the rock and I had the protein skimmer off and I went to bed for 6 hours, got up and fish and pods were dead in the tank. Snails, corals and hermits were fine. So I think the oxygen level went very low.

Whoa dude! Sorry to here about that. I worry about that same kind of thing in my tank. 3 year old twins and a 6 year old special need boy that wants to do everything including feeding the fish and playing in the water. My 3 year old girl was about to dump all the fish food in the tank one day. Luckily we noticed just in time. The food was all over the place. I’m happy to help of you ever get up this way. I only have a small amount of macro but its got plenty of pods. If you think you still have some living in the tank your going to be fine. Those things grow like crazy. Finely ground up food could help but really they will grow to the population to fit the tank.

I have been looking at night with a light and I dont see anything. I know they grow like crazy and it was nice to see the sand hopping at night. Things happen as far as the tank goes. I am disappointed and sad about the loss but it will give us a chance to talk about what is good for fish and what isnt. Vegatable oil btw isnt good. It does gives me a better understanding of pollution and devastation on the reefs and in the gulf of mexico it doesnt much oil to real mess up a lot of things. He only put a few drops in maybe a capful. But it completely sealed the water surface and the timing was bad as i had my pumps off while i slept for about 6 hours til i could finish rearranging everything.

Hey Paul, I would be happy to give you some macro w/ pods. I met you at the BBQ and live just 3 miles east of Mikes. Shoot me a pm for address/directions

Todd
