my worst would have to be getting squirt in the mouth by a palay. i was scraping shrooms off its rock and i saw the squirt coming towards my face and i did the "OH" as i leaned back and got a good bit in the mouth. i was pretty sick for a few days with fever and nasty stomach stuff going on. i wear goggels and a mask whenever i mess around now...lol

Cleaning the center brace usually gets me a mild MH burn, you would think I would learn...
Playing with live rock has earned me way too many pokes from bristle worms, never on my hands, always above the wrist.
I have avoided getting shocked so far, though not for being smart. I had a 6 bulb T5 fixture fall in the water and I reached in and grabbed it before my brain kicked in. I could see the arcing underwater but I guess there was a better ground then me. Lucky! Now all lighting plugs are GFI :)
I typically use surgical gloves, but I really need to buy the long gloves soon.

I have been lucky an have only burnt myself on the halides, not for lack of trying as I have fried 2 different DC8s by pouring water on them.

I spent about an hour yesterday searching for an old thread that was similar to this, one guy described a comedy of errors that resulted in a trip to the ER after falling into his tank and getting stabbed in the face by a staghorn. I thought a link to that thread would be a good addition here. Does anybody else remember that thread and know where it is hiding?

I've only cut myself. Not really sure how, but every now and then I will notice cuts on my nuckles after messing around in side my tank. I'm surprised thats all though, knock on wood.

Only real injury i've gotten from MY OWN tank, was when I rubbed my wet arm across the glass shield of my old 250w halide fixture... That was pretty bad and probably one of the worst burns of my life. ended up with a 3-4" long 1" wide blister that bubbled up immediately. Hurt like an SOB.

Having worked in pet/LFS my entire working career, i've racked up a number of other injuries. Been electrocuted countless times, cut, bitten, stabbed(although never by a lion, i'm pretty careful around them), burned, stung, you name it in "the line of duty"... Bitten by foot long wrasses and big mean maroon clowns, stabbed by urchins, electrocuted by unplugging stuff with wet hands or not noticing that the power strip was in a pool of water, cut myself on chipped tanks, gotten a variety of chemicals on myself and clothes.. Just all comes with the territory of working in a LFS. :)

Cut, burned, stung, shocked, little chunk of finger fed to clown trigger, and the biggie...I caught the dreaded bacterial infection and have a little dime sized scar on my arm from the infection site. It was a micro bacteria that is similar to tuberculosis and it landed me in an exotic disease specialists office. 9 months on three medications and I was all better.

We have a winner!! . That's insane!! I guess being in the business you get exposed to all sorts of crap! Ouch!!

Wow! I can't top that either!
But let's not forget emotional scars... my worst reefing injury was: a broken heart. ;-(

(Jan 1, 2011: A broken heater started a bio-crash, and most of my 4 year old reef vanished almost over-night.)

As a grown-man, that sad morning was the only time I can remember crying--i.e. actual tears runing down my face--that wasn't from a cut or a fall or a burn--just from the trauma.

No kidding...Sometimes it takes years to build up a nice reef and get everything all balanced out and one small component fails and all is lost. :faint:
