Problems with Windows roll back

Picked a little problem on the internet last week and had to call Dell for some tech help. They did a roll back of the os ( by remote pc).
Talked me into using their brand of virus protection ( System Mechanic Professional).
Now for some reason whenever I put a dish in the drive, it doesn't auto open. My camera doesn't start the software it came with when I plug it into the usb drive.
Usb devices don't open either until I go into my computer.
Where do I turn on the prompt that asks me what I want to do when you plug something in etc?

I did a quick search on MS and got this.

The AutoRun feature or the AutoPlay feature does not work when you insert a CD-ROM in the CD drive

If the cd has install exe.'s on it,,,, it should autorun




I just put my favorite nikon software disk in the drive and it did autorun/install, but now I'm getting a windows error message saying that windows caused a problem and the program won't run. grrrr. worked before damn computers. can't live with em, can't live without em.

For some reason I can't create a new paragraph here on RF at all. My enter key doesn't work at all. Tried it in pm's and on the "main floor". Just one big long string

Found out it is a problem with IE.
Google Chrome seems to be just fine.
