I just wanted to check and see if there was a way to be sure your protein skimmer is doing it's job properly. It's filling the waste container about once a week... but being new to this I just was wondering if there was a way to test it or something. Thanks for any help. Jim

adjustment

it's a viaaqua vks-300, my tank is a 90 gal. it seems I need to remember all the stuff that's in it or on it other wise it's like having a beautiful Ford mustang that you know nothing about... Jim

What is skimmate? if your talking about the crud that collects it's dry on the top of the collection cup and wet on the bottom of the cup, kinda a sludge that gathers in the bottom of the collection cup. hope that helps.Jim

Skimmate is the stuff in the cup, it could be a brown green liquid with a little foam to almost all foam. If all foam less water loss, if wet alittle more bad stuff removed.
