I have a ASM G-4 Protein skimmer that does not quite fit my sump design. Has any one added a second 90 degree angle between the pump output and the skimmer with an short extension tube. This would solve my design constraint, but I have concern for a possible adverse impact on the skimmer performance. Anyone out there done this type of mod for an ASM or Euroreef.

Thanks

Hello Wayne,
I have wanted to do that with my Euroreef. I know that Mikeydog in our club has done that. I am sure he likes it. I have noticed quite a few tanks with that mod. I think its a good idea. Your skimmer is quieter, You do not have to clean the foam from outlet pipe as often, easily adjustible. I have pictures of this saved on pc at work. I am heavily considering doing this.

Here are a few mods for ASM.

Hi:

My change is somewhat different. I am trying to get the width profile for the skimmer to a smaller size. To accomplish that, I would replace the current elbow between the pump and the skimmer with two elbows and a 4 inch strait tube. My concern is with the second elbow reducing the skimmer performance. This is diffent thatnthe post you referenced. But your information was bery beneficial for a Columbia Basin Boy.
