Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

I knew it had to be a coldwater fish. Been following your thread for your nems. Thought it looked like some kind of damsel, but i try not to guess. Bet it looks pretty cool swimmin around with everything wanting to eat it!...lol. Seriously, looks great. Were are everybody elses pics from the swap? I couldnt go, but id still like to see what i missed!

Cant have tanks on the dance floor so utilizing the space better is not an option.

If the free raffle is the most important part of a persons day then I would recommend that they show up near the end of the swap./QUOTE]

Well then that is understandable on the dance floor part. Just a bummer space couldn't have been utilized better.

I wouldn't say it was the "most important part" but it could have been done sooner. Major part of a frag swap is to buy/trade frags. Hard to do that if you come at 1245pm to catch the raffles. 2hours 45 mins is a long time and most of the quality corals will be long gone. I got there at 10am and bought $200 worth of coral from one vendor. I went back 15 minutes later for one I was thinking on and it was gone along with a few other high quality pieces.

Overall it was good and I was surprised by the turnout.

I'll add to the accolades. I had a great time with my son, listened to good presentations (functioning mike would have helped of course), and picked up some really cool frags from vendors and hobbiests alike. Very well done given the facility that PSAS had to work with. Hope to see this event continue to migrate a bit northward. Keep up the good work!

Hey Nemcrazy was that the Garibaldi that came back to life!!! :) BTW loved your little set up you had!

It sure is:) I can't tell you how amazed I am at how tough these Coldwater critters are. And thanks it was alot of fun building that setup.

I don't think that the raffle was the most important part, it was a nice plus. I feel that everyone showed up because of the many vendors and the massive amount of corals. I got there about 10:15 and left about 2:30 pm. I didn't have much money to spend, but got 3 for $35.00, and 2 more from the raffle. I did win the Reefkeeper lite from Digital Aquatics, but that was not why I was there, didn't even know that they were giving it away, just a nice plus. I left very happy, love my new corals.

This was the best frag swap yet..so many reefers from all over!!To everybody who gave me a helping hand another thank you!I was overwhelmed with kindness! The PSAS did a wonderful job organizing this event..everything went smooth and I had a blast..the vendors had beautiful livestock and equipment and my fellow reefers were able to share their goodies with us..I met a bunch of new people ..cannot wait for the next one...thanks PSAS

Dude it seems like some of your keys on your keyboard aren't working again :becky:

I think it's one of those "new fangled" keyboards that's half the size so they cut out unnecessary letters and keys.

J/K D! You're great!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Halmus and everyone that made this such a fun and enjoyable event. I don't think the corals, the raffle, or the vendors were the best part, although they were all certainly great. For me the best part is getting to hang with some of you all, the people we see on RF on a sometimes daily basis, and yet never get to see face to face. I love these events cause it is an opportunity to put a face to a "Profile ID". It was good seeing some of you again and meeting some of you for the first time. I dont see PSAS as an outlet for livestock, I see it as a community, and the best part of community is spending a little time together..
Just my two cents...

A little update and recap from the "staff". We've received a lot of feedback after the event. I want to say thanks again for everyone being there. Thank you for your feedback. Your compliments and constructive criticism are well taken. I know it was crowded, and I completely agree that hindsight is always 20-20. We should have booked a venue with more floor space to work with for tanks, clearly. We owe the crowded conditions to the great support from the local community and we can't thank you enough. We'll adjust next year. Please just promise to come pack the space again. :)

We also had some good suggestions on easy improvements. Cheapo name tags would have been great to show off out forum "handles". I wish we would have had them because we generally only know each other by online names. All of these are going into a document I'm putting together to hand off to the next BOD so they can continue building on the event on not make the mistakes we did. Hopefully, the aspects you enjoyed will also be recreated.

PSAS Newsletter

We had a good response on the monthly newsletter we're trying to compile that we added to at the Swap. It's a document we send out every month that we'd like to see grow. We want to include new on PSAS events, but also any specials events stores are running, and ALL hobby related events not affiliated with the PSAS. Got a pig roast/ frag swap you'd like to see advertised? Let us know. We don't want it to be all about the PSAS. We'd like to see all the local clubs or just groups of individuals networked together and talking.

We just sent out a test message because we added almost 80 new contacts to the list. These were all transcribed from hand-written forms. That means that I couldn't read everyone's writing, and not all those that wished to be added to the list were. I've seen 10 kicked back so far. I'm sorry I couldn't read the handwriting. I blame old age. 32 is old right? If you're one of those people that expect to receive the newsletter but didn't get the test message. PM me your email and I'll copy your address over. The digital copy of your email should be harder for me to mess up.
