It is time to replace the return pump on my 100gal reef. I have been using a Little Giant for the last few years. Havent had to may problem but is starting to get noisy. Does anyone have a recommendation, or keep going with what I've got?

I prefer the Dolphin pumps but others prefer the Sequence. Both are direct drive units and both have great reputations.

Not every person in the hobby thinks that Sequence is the pump of choice or the only thing to use. That being said, I have no problem with them whatsoever.

Sequence is an up and coming star with their new expanded line of aquarium pumps. I know of several in operation and the owners love them. I also know of Iwaki pumps that have been running for 12 years.

One-off the longest lasting pumps out there is the iwaki. Dolphin pumps are a good pump but overtime they tend to start to leak , although this usually takes years. Iwaki pumps are the ones that I would recommend if you want a long-term pump.
