Wether you use 1/2 a dose or a full dose the stuff builds up. It get blown deep into the LR and below the substrate. At night the ph drops below 7 in those zones. This causes alk and ca spikes. Its not a Reef product, probably fine for FOWLR.

for once I agree with burning2nd dood!

lol, in my life that comes far and few between.

like don said, any amount small or big, will in time build up, unless

you do wc,

witch would be like wasteing money really,

u would be adding then subtracting it

Imo a good salt should provide everything you need.

To add to that though Jon...Depending on how much calcium, alk etc your corals use up and how quickly they do it, you will sometimes need to supplement calcium and alk as water changes alone are not sufficient. You will need to test to see what needs to be added and how much of it needs to be added as well as how often...The more corals added to any setup, the more calcium and alk etc will be used up :)

Water changes dont remove the buid up. It sits in a solid form until the ph falls low enough for it to desolve sort of like a calcium reactor.

If your ph drops below 7 ever than you got big probs that go way beyond anything precipitating

Well ecobalance seems you dont understand denitrification. Anoxic zones fall below 7, no o2. This is what makes the product a problem to reef keepers.:)
