Pyramid snails only on Astreas?

Look what I found in my tank... Is this a Pyram or Rissoid snail. I have one Crocea. I had them before the addition of the clam and didn't really think much of them prior. But now I've stubbled across this post and it raising some concern.

I've yet to see it on my clam or Astrea's. I only notice them going up the side of the tank. Some have been sucked into the overflow and into my filter sock in the sump. I've been picking them out one by one in the main. I would say it's not a large investation. I think I got 2 last night and 3 tonight. Again never seen them on the clam or Astrea's. Should I look into a sixline to help control or should I even be concerned about them.

If you haven't seen them on the clam or other snails, then I wouldn't be too concerned with them. I would, however, keep an eye on both the clam and other snails, just in case. Maybe spot check every so often by taking out an astrea (or other snails), and make sure there aren't any of these tiny guys on the shell.

I have a sixline that didn't care too hoots about these snails, so a sixline will be hit or miss.

Thanks Nikki.

That's kind of what I'm thinking since they seem pretty harmless right now. I was just wondering if I should try and take care of them now before I end up with a large infestation if they are bad.. I guess I'll just keep a eye out for them and see how it goes.

I still have these things in my tank, but they are only on the Astrea snails, they havent touched any of the three clams in my tank.

I think you're fine.

Nick
