Hi,
Anyone know anything about the new T-6 flourescents? Big Al's has em as do a few places including an LFS I have a ton of credit with. They supposedly fit in a standard flourescent fixture but are stronger and longer lasting, specifically am thinking of trying them over tanks 24" or less in depth. In one case would be as actinic supplement to 14K 175 watt halides, in the other as sole source of lighting (actinic plus 11K bulbs) for a kenya tree/mushroom/zoanthid prop tank for said LFS I have a lot of credit with. (They LOVE these frags that most people can't give away...)
Boyfriend said I have to lower the power bill, could cut wattage further by switching to all T-5's but these T-6's would be a much cheaper conversion.
Cutting the halides from magnetic to electronic ballasts and dropping an hour of light already cut the bill by 40 bucks a month! I have a fishroom to light-was 50 tanks and am cutting to about 25.
Thanks,
Kate
