I was wondering if anyone has had success with the purple nudibranch or any of the other really colorful nudibranchs in a reef tank...

if so what fish/inverts did you have in tank with them?

if not what fish/inverts did you have in tank with them?

Thank you
JR

Do not attempt to keep these kinds of Nudibranch's no matter what tank you have. They have specialized diets that cannot be substituted and will 99% of the time perish in a few short weeks/month.

The slug mentioned by Crazy Clown would be a much better option.

You can get some very detailed information on this site....

Agreed, Nudi's are so colorful like candy but they will die off quickly. The lettuce ones are best if you must. I had a awesome Spanish Dancer that I had for monthes. It would come out at night a dance all over. Then one day it got on the side of my power sweep 228 where the adjustment wheel is and got sucked into it and shredded up. Just another thing to keep in mind.

It's a sea slug- Opisthobranch, not a Nudibranch. The adhesiveness of a Nudibranch is not what makes them hard to keep. It's the fact that they are more commonly fixed to one prey item and usually down to the species level. This makes keeping an almost impossible task.

I heard that the purple nudi was just a normal scavanger? what is there special diet?
is there and seaslugs which are colorful?
I am going to do some research on the Spanish Dancer...

Too general of a question. Read the site I linked to and you'll get plenty of answers. If you always take the easy road, your not going to accomplish much ;)

dood i know you want something colorful (yeah they look so kewl) but why would you want something that's not gonna last you long.
So let's say that someone traps you because they think your human species is cute.... but they don't know that you only feed on steak and they leave you in your cage for days and days without steak until you die............would you be ok with it??? after all you would look cute in the cage .

sorry dood couldn't resist :D .
good luck finding something colorful dood :) .

I think I am just going to go with the Lettuce for now.
I was looking at the the Bulla Gouldiana or the Haminoea cymbalum I was reading on the seaslug forum and it says both are algae grazers? Does anyone have any experience with these types?
