I just posted that maybe it is a feature that isn't installed in the software package, or is unavailable unless you upgrade once again & that button is a teaser or I just don't know, I never tried it, all the other stuff works. My feeling it just isn't set up because of the extra burden on the servers but hey what do I know, I'm just trying for all of us to get alone!

I verified today that using "Quick Reply" on Reef Central does send email notifications when someone adds to a new reply to the thread. I used "Quick Reply" to add to 3 different threads on Reef Central and I received 3 different emails stating something was new on each of those threads. So guess Reef Central has it configured a little differently than we do on here. I check Reef Frontiers forums often enough that the lack of email notifications isn't a problem for me but would be nice if it worked.

Also a side note. I received one email notification after Nikki posted. I did not receive one after MtnDewMan posted nor when Scooterman posted.

Weird...

Scooterman - yeah server burden would be a concern if we had thousands of users all utilizing the email notifications and constant updating of the threads and it was run all on one server. Users utilizing the search function is much more server intensive than generating email notifications.

Matt...I only receive an email notification once for a thread until I check the thread...then I'll receive another for the next post. There could be 5 posts from the time I was on the thread last until I check it again, but I'll only receive 1 notification. Is that how it is for you? Reef Central does send email notifications for quick replys...not too many other sites do that though. I'm not sure what is required for that.

That button at the top right is a bit of a teaser I guess. Just like I thought though, it just adds the forum to your control panel and if you go there right away and have just a few forums you are tracking it makes it easier than sifting through 20 ...

With regard to email notifications if using the post reply button, you should only get one email and there could be multiple replies, you won't get another email until you go back to that thread again. Here are the words you get in the email notification ...

"There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the board again"

With regard to quick reply, like I said earlier, it is an add on to the original software. So a software guru on Reef Central may have been able to figure out how to also make it do an email notification. I can check into that one further.

ok I received an email notification! and yeah I know about the multiple replies and only one email notification till you check the thread again.

i'll just make a mental note to use 'post reply' when i want to keep tabs on thread.

i received a notification from this thread...i'll try another using quick reply
