question on what size pump i need

I putting together a 29gal tank with 10gal sump what size pump should i use?

like 130gph?

Most consider 3x to 5x tank volume. But with your sump being a 10 gallon tank, I'd go towards the lower side.

I told a MJ1200 will be jsut fine for it.

Hey i had a great 29 gallon setup. Maxi-jets are not great as return pumps in my experience. I had used a Quiet One 1200 which was about 296 gph. This pump worked awesome and did a lot better at dealing with head than the maxi-jet.

I would go with a Quite one or a small Eheim, these last forever and are not big heat producers.

I have similar water volumes for my nano, 20 gallon display with a 15 gallon sump. I'm using an eheim 1260 for my return which generates pretty good flow for the watts it uses. Make sure you take into account the heat generated by the pump!
