what is the optimal flow of h2o through a phosphate reactor? i have a 100gph pump, but it doesn't keep the medium (1/3 - 1/4 full) in the chamber suspended in the chamber as directed so i was wondering if i need a bigger pump.

what are you running in it? I run GFO in mine and don't have much flow through it. For GFO, you only want to have the very top of it move a little, but that's it. Like it's boiling.

Yeah, let us know what media you're running. As Burke noted, if you're running GFO you need to restrict flow so that it's barely tumbling on top. That will keep the media moving slightly and keep it from quickly becoming a big brick.

I run about 70-80 gph through my 2little Fishies reactor and I'm using Rowaphos. If I look at it, only the top 1/4"-1/2" of meadia is 'boiling'. I think that is what you are looking for. It will not 'suspend' all media in the reactor if that is what you thought it might do.
