Hello I am looking for some feedback on really quiet skimmers.. I am currently looking at a Precision Marine RL 125, or a Bubble Magus BM-NAC3.5 Cone Protein Skimmer. It is for my 45 cube with a 45 cube sump that is in my living room, so I am looking for something that will perform really well and be very quiet as far as motor noise, as well as not break the bank.. SO If you have one of these skimmers or have had one or know of something better I would very much appreciate any help with this matter.. :help:
Thanks,
Chris

WELCOME to RF!!
and hey.... I live in sector ZZ9 plural Z alpha!! what a coincidence!!!

well, the bubble magus nac3.5 would be good,
but the SWC 120 cone is a bit more power, better bubble plate, much better air muffler/valve,
and a control valve that is much better for fine adjustments than a wedge pipe alone:
SWC 120 Cone

also the SWC bmk 150 would be quiet and more than double the power of the 120 cone or nac 3.5, just not a cone:
SWC150 BMK

another inexpensive skimmer that would be good to look at for 45g would be eshopps psk-100 in sump skimmer(240 lph air injection),
not as good of design features(no bubble plate or cone), but still a good little skimmer and only $103

the SWC bmk 150 gives you 700 lph air injection at $195 with the same great valve for fine adjustments thats on the 120/160 cone skimmers,
so it's a bit more, but the most power and better design features for the least amount of money @ $195
and you could use it on tanks as big as 120g.

Hey Skimmy,

Sector ZZ9 plural Z alpha is a great place to live.. Thank you so much for the info on the SWC skimmers. I am really liking them and have been looking them up all morning. are the motors accessible through the bottom plate?? it looks like there is 2 plates there and one is screwed into the other and then the plate the motor is connected to probably comes out to access the motor. I looked up some videos of them running and they are very quiet.. VERY NICE.. thanks again for the info..

Chris
