So I finally got my 180 up and filled. Go to turn on the return, the thing is noisy but rather than the sound of a pump it seems more like the vibrations from the pump coupled with the acrylic sump in a wood stand is the cause. The pump isn't a normal aquarium pump but rather one for pumping the water out from under your house/in your crawl space. The pump's intakes are around the bottom edge so I'm not sure how to get a buffer in there to reduce the vibrations. Anyone have any ideas?

Mount it to a piece of wood with some rubber bushings maybe to absord the vibrations.
You'll have to replace the bushings occasionally so make it easy to get too.

Is the pump saltwater compatible. I'd just use a bathroom type mat thing to put under it. Also maybe prime it by unplugging it and plugging it in a couple times.

Ya try and isolate the pump
Pad under its support feet and use a section of rubber flexible hose on the exhaust will help a lot.
I use the quiet one 4000 and had the same problem.
Very noise, now I hardly know its running.
I would check if that pump can run with salt water. Its probable okay since it’s a trash pump but you should check.
