Just a quick question about raising salinity...can I over-saturate my new water for water changes a little extra (say to 1.030) or should I make the new water match what I want to take my salinity to and just keep that up until I reach the salinity I am aiming for?

In this case say my salinity is 1.023 and I want to push it to 1.025...my water change is about 15% or 25G on a 180G tank.

If you bump it up it will be ok, just don't increase to fast. You could also make your makeup water salt instead of rodi

What I'll do is get a gallon jug of tank water and bump it up to 1.040 and pour it back in slow. I do it 2 times in a day so I don't raise it over 0.0015 a day.

Read this old post of Boomer's: Single Post - Raising Salinity. Make sure when you follow Boomer's link you use ppt NOT specific gravity...if you use specific gravity you will get funny answers. So, make sure when you plug your numbers into the calculator you use the correct units.

Ah yes, very cool & seems pretty straight forward.

Next time I suppose I could start with the SEARCH function, too.
