I have a 300 gal tank that is being converted to reef from fish. Any suggestions fro a calcium reactor? I have been using kalk on my 65 gal with good results but 300 gal is a whole nother ballgame.

Actually, it's not a whole nother ball game. In a 300, you'll have more evaporation, thus the ability to dose more Kalk. However, dosing Kalk, through top off water, limits your dosing ability to the amount of evaporation, which will fluctuate, according to the weather. In other words, you should be dosing Kalk, based on your tank's needs and consumption, NOT limiting or basing your Kalk dosing on the amount of water your tank evaporates.

Deciding on a Calcium Reactor will take a lot of research and studying. You can easily maintain your levels, without the use of any reactor. You can dose, daily or weekly. This might be a lil' more labor intensive, but is just as effective and maybe even a safer way to go.

Jill, you musta read my Disaster thread....lol.

Once I have a ph controller, I will put the Calcium Reactor back online. There are just some good reasons for both systems. Daily dosing is much safer though. If you're making your own supplements, it's also quite inexpensive.

yes I did. I also read Plack's and I even almost had my own disaster when my ATO float stuck and almost flooded my whole system!

What kind of reactor do you use/like?
