We finally took the leap, moving into our first <acronym title="Light Emitting Diodes">LED</acronym> lighting system. After many months of research and past dealings with Reefkoi, we decided on Chris' Evo150 along with a 36" light rail, for our 40 Breeder. One word = AMAZING!!
The packaging was done so well that it took longer to unwrap the light rail than it did to assemble it. After unwrapping the 5 pieces, it took me about 6 minutes to assemble and then another minute of fine tuning, once I had it set on the tank. Plenty of hanging hardware is provided, though we decided to use the 2 longer screws (also provided) to attach the Evo150 directly to the light rail, instead of hanging it from the light rail. This took another 2 or 3 minutes. Plugged it in, hit the power switches and WOW!! I'm currently running the whites at about 30% and blues at about 50%. Everything looks amazing! I've been playing with the controls some and am just amazed at how much POP there is, with the whites completely off and the blues at about 75%. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll slowly ramp both white and blue up, but I've read enough to know that I'll really want to go slowly with that. This weekend, the 250MH pendant will go back over the tank, since the Evo150 will be accompanying us to the Bob Moore <acronym title="Fragment (a small part of a coral colony removed in order to grow another colony)">Frag</acronym> Swap. I can't wait to get the camera out and snap some pictures, though that'll have to wait a day.
The light rail is simple, sleek and very functional. With the Evo150 attached, it's a very classy look! I'm so impressed and only wish I'd made this leap sooner!
I'll get the glass cleaned up and get some pics taken, as soon as possible!
