Thats a really nice skimmer. You do great work!! Can't wait to see it running.

Here are the pix from last night. I found out that the 2700 w/ my old style venturi could not overcome the 30" of headpressure to completely fill the chamber so I had to remove it temporarily. I will be testing one of DonW's venturi's later. The thing is filled up really nicely w/ pure tiny bubbles, I think that after it breaks in it will be a great skimmer. So far no foam. The big bubbles in the pic are stuck to the side and do not represent what is in the water column.

OR makes a needel wheel 3500 also it is rated 900gph & the OR6500 instead of their OR2700 rated at 650gph.

Nice work Tom, that would fit my new tank just about right:D j/k

The final product looks very nice Tom. Great craftsmanship! Nothing better than something that looks great and carries out it's purpose well...Keep us updated on how it works out for you:)

That kinda came out of left field, what are you talking about?

Oops! Guess I should of posted what I was talking about. I thought maybe you needed a bigger needle wheel, I saw the larger OR on skimmers & thought one of them should work fine on your skimmer, maybe I didn't understand what you talking about in this quote?

Ah, thanks Scooty. The feed pump is still a 2700 and it is working fine, it is just that it was stalling with my old venturi installed so I had to remove just the venturi off of it. So right now the only pump feeding air to the skimmer is the 3700. I think that there is enough air in the skimmer right now. I played around with adding more air and it seemed to make it a little too turbulent. It is a fine line on the 2700 between getting it to feed some air and stalling out with the amount of headpressure that it has to overcome. More to follow on that issue.

Well the skimmer decided to kick into gear today and so far it is working great. I also got the 2700 working, so we will see what kinda junk it has in the cup for me when I get home from work in the morning. Just as a side note the cup holds about 1.5 gallons :)

Man that is one big cup, hard to tell from the photos. I bet it will remove a ton from the looks of the micro-bubbles.

Update, here is about 12 hours worth of mung. This thing is working really really well.

Tempting but no thank you!

LOL!

Tom...Is that 4 (plus) cups worth of skimmate from just 12 hours of use? That is just amazing! I honestly don't see how people are able to keep healthy tanks without using a skimmer...

Yup it was actually over 5 cups, it all wouldn't fit into the measuring cup. I am going to let it run for a couple days w/ out messing with it now to see how long it takes to make 1.5 gallons.

Amazing! You tank must produce quite a bit of waste and your skimmer seems to be able to handle it perfectly fine. :)

I never had a skimmer that worked that well & that fast, Tom I think you out did yourself once again.
