Here is the hood that i have.
Is CSL with three 250W MH and two 96 W PC the ballast is a regular probe ballast so it will not fire the Radiums correctly.
I'm leaning towards AB 250W 10K or the Ushios 10K i think they will fire on a regular porbe ballast.

so waterdogs, have you not had any problems with the greenhouse/heating effect from having the top of your tank covered as well with the halides. i am assuming you mean covered with glass, and i had always heard that that can cause heating problems. i've got a canopy on my tank, so i don't worry too much about jumpers.

Yes, I am having heat problems! Is safe to take the cover off the light or is it better to uncover the tank?

Go with the 20,000K Radiums

Waterdogs:
I'm using 250w HQI 20K radiums. I guess I like the blue color, and my corals really seem to like them too with the supplement of 50/50 VHO artintics this is a Blue light but My sps have been doing very good, as well as my clams ;)
Mine are installed in a PFO Light fixture. Hope this helps..Jeff

PFO light Fixture

Yes It has a tempered glass cover My unit also has the PFO moon lights that mount on the back side of the Metal Halide bases. :)
Hope this helps if your wondering what it looks like I have a couple of tank shots with the light on...Jeff

The Apprentice, so your fixture has no cover?

I'm using a 250w 12k coralvue bulb and love the color not too blue not too white. AFA growth I don't have SPS yet but my LPS are doing very well in coloration and growth.
