I bought a red sil coral for 5 dollars, it i sick. The tank they had it in was not feed feed enough so he closed up and not just has lil tenitcales to feed, doesn't open or anythign (I think it is as open as it can) is there anythign I could feed it directly to help it grow and replenish?

I am directly feeding it Marine snow but is there anything else

Please Help

did you acclimate it too new lighting conditions, if not you might want to try some egg crate or lower you lighting period for a week then slowly bump it back up to where you have it now.

It dims the intensity of the lighting a little, If you just got him recently. I would give him a week or so and see hows he is doing then. From my experience it sometimes takes some corals awhile to open and adjust to a diffrent living environment. Sorry I can't be of more help.

i've seen those called carnation corals before.
from what i understand, they tend not to do too well in aquariums.
they're filter feeders i think, lower light requirements.
i don't know that i've ever seen a red one like the one in the picture, unless it had been dyed.
i guess this isn't much help though.

JR - how long did the person you bought the coral from have it? Hopefully the coral was not mislabelled and is really a Dendronephthya sp. If this coral is aposymbiotic, then feeding will be important. Anthony Calfo had made mention of a chili coral MACNA, and how shining a light in its vacinity will attract plankton to help with feeding the coral. You might give that trick a shot. Here is a thread where Anthony talks about the chili coral: Help with Coral ID
