Hey I just thought about this. I am not new to reef frontiers, but not sure who is responsible for making this site such an informative and welcoming site. I would like to see if we could get all of the Reef frontiers Admin folks to post a little about themselves. For instance, how long they have been reefing, how long they have been in the club, and the ups and downs they may have come across. I would also like to take the time to say that this website has been great to me. And it is the people behind the scenes that makes it possible. So I would like to say thank you. I know that you have gone through a lot of changes and some of them not so easy so I think it is important that you guys are given the amount of appreciation that is deserved.
Mike is right, it is everyone that made us what we are. When I started at this site Mike was putting it together and I was a as Rookie as you can be, well I had about about 2 years (SW) under my belt before but very green indeed. I've kept fresh water since I was about 7 or 8 years old, (36 or 37 years ago), my first tank ever was from a sore like K-mart or something a whopping 5 gallons, I read what I could, put some gravel, UGF filter, heater, some nice fake plants and rock or two and a little water stabilizer and got some gobys and from there I was rocking & rolling. From the start all I did was read, read and drilled the **** out of Mike with questions and anyone else who had knowledge, it took a solid two years of learning at that point to really wake up to what was going on and why. That is one thing I feel the hobby has lost, really lost, these days we have it down so pat, so much experience, equipment etc that I feel it actually hurt us in part because to ever succeed back then you actually had to know what you were doing to be successful. When I took what I knew about FW and was able to breed and do anything with it i wanted to basically nothing, it was a hard gasp, expensive and I was feeling like the fool. For some reason, I never quit though, I just kept learning, reading, asking all the stupid questions and Drilling Mike,:fencing:until I was blue in the face. :dizzy:
Being an outsider (Louisiana) I felt left out lots because I missed so much lots of guys had right there on the west coast, we didn't (still don't) have much here. I guess the internet has helped with all that greatly so Cheers to Windows and Apple machines!:clap2:
The past few yeas here at RF was scary but I couldn't walk away and really was worried right before I was given the keys to keep the place open. Since then somehow things worked out, Mike came back, took the site out like an old used Rug, shook it all up, cleaned it nice and shiny and here we are today, so all that goes to Mike! I think for the most part, we have a great staff and more so the people that have become a part of the forum and has hung there with us all this time, it was ruff the past few years. I've had/have medical issues a few years now and I'm adapting with it and have been down without a tank for the longest since I was 7!
The weirdest thing though is I was telling Mike that Tomorrow
Friday January 14th 2011, I should be getting my new CAD 12g tank! :director: So I'm going to be starting another New thank build, this time Nano!
opcorn: So that should be it for me!
