Is it possible to put a monthly calendar on the homepage. My idea is that clubs, organizations, or individuals would contact RF staff/mods and ask to have frag swaps, club meetings, workshops, tank viewing get togethers, etc. added to the calendar. Clicking on a particular day on the calendar would bring up a page with the planned events for that day and clicking on the event would provide details of the event.

Is this doable?

Sounds like a pretty neat idea! I know we once had a calendar, but I don't think it had that option. Would be really cool if it could work that way. If it is possible and they go ahead with it, I don't mind being the contact for members to pm with the dates to add to the calendar. :)

We had a regular calendar, on the home page, for about a month or so. I think it was removed, to make room for other items, since it wasn't being utilized.

Were people able to add stuff to the old calendar?

Cumon mike, REALLY ???
Like with all this new stuff on this new site and junk we knew were everything was and what we can do with it?!?!?!?
How many people actually go to the home page every day??
And how many people knew we could put stuff on it??

Yea I dont have a problem with that, but as always its apperently not as easy as it seems. I put up the widget for one but I dont see any way for folks to edit it and add events and such. Although in the adim section it has permission controls to allow members to do that or not. SO I am figuring the one I have up is just a blank and their must be another that is hidden so let me do some digging and I will find out whats going on.

Ok I guess somehow it got removed from the Navbar and I cannot figure out how to get it back up again, BUT I did put it on the front page in the navigation area. It is set so you folks can enter events and so on in it. It also right now has folks birthdays in it so if that gets to cluttered I can remove then pretty easy. Let me know

I see the calendar widget on the front page. That's exactly what I had in mind for appearance. Now, if you can just set it so that staff and mods can add events you'll be done. Also, don't forget to let your sponsors know about it so they can get their store events and sales listed. This could be a really useful tool that would set your site apart from others.

Looking good,

Mike, you should be able to add events. If you click on the Calendar, there is an option to Ad an Event. I just added 2 events, last night.

Wait, you don't actually click on the Calendar widget. However, above the Calendar, in the navigation area, you'll see "Calendar." Click on that, and the Ad Event option will be available.

Yea Mike get off your BUTT and do your own dirty work????:biggrin1:

Ok here is the story, the front page calendar is just a calender and no more so I am going to get rid of it as it doesnt really serve a purpose. The link to calendar in the navigation window is the actual VB calendar and I have enabled it so anyone can add events to it. It currently has birthdays on it so if it gets to crowded I can turn that off. But other then that it is open for all to add events

Enjoy

Mike
