Reef safe fish???

I'm considering turning my fish only tank with live rock and one anemone into a reef tank. I've had several fish for about a year with no problem. I know that the green chromis, yellow and purple tangs, and the clown fish are reef safe but I have a coral hog and a blacktail wrasse,(Thalassoma ballieui) which is rare, you can see him as my avatar, which I'm concerned about. I know I can't have shrimps, clams, snails or crabs because they will chomp on them but I can't find any information if they are reef safe. Can you help. 75 gal, 100 lbs live rock, 3" sand bed.

Saltwaterfish.com says your Hog fish would be reef safe but without Shrimp.

Depends on the shrimp, I believe cleaner shrimp are reef safe.

Bainic, the questions isn't about reef safe shrimp. It's about the Hogfish and the Wrasse being reef safe towards corals.

Thanks for the info. The hogfish is safe but they don't mention if the wrasse is. I've looked every where for info on the wrasse and there is very little on him. Eventually, I am going to convert my tank into a reef but he's such a cool fish I'd hate to get rid of him if don't have to.

wrasse normally have a very meaty diet and i wouldnt not think that ur wrasse would be a problem at all although i would think and soft coral lps tank would be easyer to keep then sps i dont know what coral u would stock but would love to see pics

I'd love to see pictures of your fish! Post them up if you can! How big are your clowns? How big is the wrasse? According to fishbase, your wrasse will eat shrimp and small fish, so I wouldn't worry about it eating corals. I would be more concerned about it outgrowing your tank (max size is 15 inches) in short order and possibly harming your clowns. Thalassoma ballieui Species Summary

Thalassoma wrasses don't typically bother coral. They're much more interested in crunchy shrimp and crabs.
