well every friday i go to my LFS and about every couple months they give out free ReefHobbyistMagazines, just a neat little magazine with self entries from people about varies stuff, reviews on items/fish/corals its a pretty neat magazine,
and one thing that caught my attention in the magazine was a Competition there having , they're prizes for the first & second place winnders. And they'll publish your article in there magazine. i meen theres no harm in trying

Grand Prize(1st) = AquaticLife TM HID Light Fixture ($1,069 MSRP)
Gold Prize(2nd) = Aquaticlife TM Deluxe 100GPD RO/DI system ($319 MSRP)

You should write about this then. You do know things. Talk about how much you don't know and the things you have gone through and learned in setting up your first saltwater tank. Nothing wrong with that.
