Ok before i moved my tank i had lots of chaeto and other macro algae and a deep sand bed. Is that the best to help remove nitrates and phosphates from the water? Or should i use live rock instead of the sand or both? I have a small bio load only 1 fish and a couple corals but should be getting more corals and maybe 2 more fish in the future.

ok how deep should i make it, before i moved it was about 5inch deep i would say. Is that good enough or should i make it deeper? Could i add live rock to help filter the water or should i just leave it with sand and macro?

A 4 inch deep is customary as any more is a waste of sand and any less reduces the anaerobic bacteria load, I'd just forget the LR and just throw in some chaeto and call it good
