My friend has an anemone. He hates the fact that it takes up space and it moves around the tank and might ending up harming other corals. Now the question is how does he remove it, cause it's stuck on the live rocks pretty good.

Sometimes a ice cube rubbed on the base will help get the foot up, then just really really slow push it up with a thumbnail.

Possible Idea

Hi Mo I have been told to do this in the past It might work, Take a small power head and direct it toward the anemone. This will make It not happy and usally after a short time they will start moving. Once they relax their grip to what they are stuck to you can remove them from the tank ;)
Hope it works ...Jeff

Thanks guys. Any more suggestions helps. We're going to try to work on that ice cube thing and the powerhead. Let you know soon how it goes. Again thanks. Any more solutions from anyone else would be great!

I have removed many from Scott's tank. I've tried the powerhead thing, sometimes help a little, but using your fingernail to get it started works the best, once you can get it started, you can just kind of roll it along and then that is when I've tried the powerhead once I got it going. Sometimes if it's really wedged down in the rock we had to chisel the rock and break in half.

Hope that helps!

Fingernail? My friend and I are scared to touch the thing! LoL!

They have a hard time stinging thru your palm, or the back of your hand. That skin is tough. The inside of the arm or other soft skin, I have had them sting the crap out of me. It took over a week to heal up. Just dont leave it on soft skin and its fine.

Steve is right, the inner arm can be nice and painful if you get stung!

What kind of anemone is it? Certain types can sting worse than others and you should probably wear gloves just so you feel better and be a little extra careful.

We just pulled 15 out of my tank on saturday, most were just buried in the rock. The best way is to get a screw driver and dig into the rock under where it is attached, just in the rock about an 1/8. Once you get about 50% of the foot loose you can just use your finger (gloves) to pry up the rest. I always pinch them a bit on the underside to get them to shrink up first.
