retro fit lighting

hey i was wondering if i could use my ice cap 660 blasset and wire them up to some home depot light fixtures and put some bulbs in those kinda like a hal kit.. just trying to do a cheap lighting system i had to down grade my tank to a 40 g and my 48inch vhos wont fit so i need to go down to a 24 or 28 or 30 inch light thats why im asking if i could retro fit something looking forward to the imput thanks in advance... brandon

I dont see a reason you could'nt use the icecaps, just get the correct endcaps for the bulbs and follow the wiring directions on the 660. How many bulbs are ya gonna run? I went with the t-5's. The 660 overpowers the t-5 nicely and you will like the color you get. I did hear of someone talking about t-7's tho.. hmmm The spectrum of the bulbs you use is very important, 12-16K is going to be nice and blue, less is white to red.

Ive got 6 t-5's on my 40g breeder, and thats Way more then i need. I can grow anything in that tank.
