I"ve got a kent marine 3 stage filter and I was wondering where the best place to get the filters for them were. Can you just get them at home depot or lowes. I was also curious to know if I could add an extra canister or 2 for a bit more filtration. Thanks

try these guys http://www.thefilterguys.biz/index.htm I have not personally use them but have heard great things about them. If I remember correctly the filters at lowes, etc do not have a low enough micron rating to be effective. I use a 1 micron sediment filter that I get locally for about $3 and a 5 micron carbon block filter made by matrikx. Sounds like you may have an RO only system if its just a 3 stage. If the tds of your water after the RO is 5 or below I wouldn't add any more stages to your RO system. I live in Indiana and the water here is horrible, so as a 4th stage I use a DI stage to get my tds to zero or near zero.

Hope that helps a little

I agree with using the filter guys, you cant beat the service. You can as many stages as you want. Personally I would have at least 3 before the RO and at least one di after the ro. I also would not accept any tds above 0, your tank will be much happier at 0.

How do you know which sizes to get for the cartridges?

Most use 10" the 3 pack deals at the filter guys will get you exactly what you need. They also have canisters so you can add on and modify as you see fit. Get yourself a tds meter preferably an in-line while your there. This meter will tell you what mods your need and dont need. Personally I would buy a meter first then come back here with the results so we can point you in the right direct without wasting your money on speculation.
