RO Membrane question

When you installed your replacement RO membrane did you let it run for 2 hours and dump the product water. My membrane says it is treated with something and this is what I should do before drinking the water. Seems like a lot of wasted water, but if that's what it takes....

that is what my membrane said. I had the same question so I watched the product with a TDS you could see high readings at first. after a while they droped. so if in dout do as it says

Membranes are treated with a preservative - this is what you're trying to flush out.

thanks for the info. I just got my 5 stage 75 GPD system and will be hooking it up tonight. glad to know i should flush it first. Whoever said this hobby was cheap????
