I have a 54gal bowfront tank but cant decide what to do about rock as far a size??? Would it look better to have one huge rock or a bunch of little ones or an assortment of medium, large, and small????

Please give imput and if pics available would be awesome!!!

Thanks,
Mike

big rock

Big rock will make your tank look bigger, and will be more stable.A good trick to make your aquarium seem much bigger is to put the biggest rock up close to the front glass and than use the smaller one's behind it.

I like to mix my rock sizes. Here is a pic when I was in the middle of setting up the rockwork in my 220. Not quite done at that point but you can see the shapes beginning to take form. A double decker cave on the left, a single cave on the right, a passageway in the middle, and a lots of swimming space in the entire front.

Here is my 120 with 160lbs (13 pieces) of LR ranging in size from 7-45 lbs. Hopefully, if you keep up on the husbandry, in a years time it will look like the picture below. Long story short. If you have a reef. The rock work is just a temporary view. Just be sure to give yourself real estate for the corals you want, swim room for the fish, and keep it as open as possible to help prevent dead spots.
