I now have a rodi unit in my garage.( 2 weeks) It is the first one I've owned in 26 years of keeping saltwater and I am already running into a problem.
I have it running into a 30 gallon container, with a float valve,,,,,,, that also is a top off container for my 240 gallon softy tank.
On this container is a JBJ auto top off unit, which I like very much. It does exactly what I want it to do and has been for 5+ years.
My problem is that the JBJ unit will activate 6-7 times a day as the water in my sump goes down. It will deliver a few cups to several cups of water at a time, which is fine. Once the JBJ ato starts, it will in turn start up the rodi unit because the float valve opens and it will run for just a few minutes 6-7 times a day.
Because of the "TDS creep " the resin in the di container is getting used up at a very high rate.
There is a Solenoid Valve controller with a high and low float that is made by SpectraPure, but it is $160.

It's pretty cool.
It has a high point sensor and a low point sensor. When the water is used up in your storage container and get down to your low point sensor it will turn on the rodi, untill the water fills up to the high point sensor, which you can make as far apart as you want.
This will eliminate the rodi unit from short cycling constantly.
But to me the cost is too much.
Can someone diy a similar unit without the high cost?
I could just turn off the water supply and pump when the container is full and later during the week turn both back on for 1/2 a day, then back off, but I want to find a cost effective way of going full auto.
