salt/water mix salinty?

i have 10 gal of water at 1.019 and need to get to 1.23 how much salt would i need to add to the water

I don't have a formula or anything, but as a guess I'd add 1/2 a cup and let it mix (powerhead) for a while and then test.

thats cool, thats what i do anyway, just thought for 5gal,you add so much to raise it so much,you know...

what i just found is with instant ocean,1/2 cup for 1 gal of water will get you 1.022, alittle more than 2 1/2 cups for 5gal...or close to it

There will be no set measurement because the various salts vary in composition, and will have varying degrees of water content, depending on the atmosphere exposed to.

I've been using I/O for over 20 yrs and 1/2 cup per gallon gets me 1.022-23 very consistantly. I have almost always used the 50g bag mix which seems to be better mixed or less seperated than the buckets.
