i use lake michigan water and mix my salt. I use tropic marine and have had no problems with it.

I was reading an article on the net about sea urchins. This scientist developed a bio-assay to test sea water from different sources. The bio-assay involved how many sea urchin embryos died with different types of water. There were a certain number of deaths in natural sea water but virtually zero in all brands of artificial sea water. It surprised me.

Water changes? Must be a lot of rich folk here with time on their hands, LOL

Living in the puget sound, I would be afraid of accidentaly introducing hitchhikers, such as Orca or seal lions. Ya never know what might be in that thar bucket! (along with PCBs, mercury, dioxins, pesticides, phosphates, etc.)
