so i just purchased a 29g biocube. if i were to buy live rock and sand from a well established tank, would i have to go through the cycle process again?

Welcome to RF! :welcome:. As Seth pointed out, you might have a small cycle. It will all depend on how established the rock and sand is as well as how quick you can do the transfer. If the rock is out of water too long it will experience more and more die off so the quicker it's transferred the less chance of a cycle. If the rock you get isn't from a mture tank and isn't sured then you can definately look forward to a cycle.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it here. :)

I used live rock from an established tank and grabbed some mollies (brine fish from Petco), they seem to have done a great job of cycling over the tank, and later became food for a friends angler fish. I didn't have any die off of the mollies, and when I started adding coral about 2 weeks alter the coral did fine too. Only recently added some clowns, but that was me being gun shy, I have hordes of tiny baby mollies in my sump now... cause mollies breed like that :p

more angler food.
