Scampys 10 gal nano

Hi all. Just wanted to share some pics of my nano. I started it 1 1/2 years ago. It's nothing special but I wanted to do a relatively low cost aquarium. All my corals are beginer corals so dont expect to be blown away lol.
A little bit about my tank. Its a 10 gal with a 2" sandbed,12 pounds of LR, a Koralia 1 powerhead and an antique Amiracle counter current protien skimmer. For livestock there is a pair of clowns,a couple turbo snails and a couple nassarius snails. For corals I have a couple kenya trees,palau green tree,frogspawn,red and green shrooms,couple small patches of xenia,pulsing xenia,candycane,metallic GSP and some zoas. Here are some pics.

NO LAUGHING!!! it's my first attempt at saltwater and in a year and a half I havent had any disasters yet so I must be doing something right..lol

Looking good!! All that coraline growth will mean that there is definately some nice water parameters in there

Pretty cool! I have a similar setup. 10 gallon with a K1 and just a good hang on the back power filter. It's a little dirty though, and isn't as old and stable as yours. Definately not my main display, but pretty fun! Just got some killer new leds for it too!

That is sweet, its always nice to see another local nano, you dont see many new nanos popping up too often

Those kenya's are huge!

Those kenya's are about to go. They get stuck in the skimmer pump and powerhead. Every week I find a new piece floating around in there. They pinch themselves off and drop frags all over the place. I may start over with a couple 1" frags and ditch the large ones. I'll dig up a pic from 1 1/2 years ago when I first got them.

Cool lookin little tank. I prefer nanos. I just started a nano a few months back. So far its rather healthy. A FEW small aiptasia that I found this week but I killed them already. So hopefully no more of them.

Not sure if you noticed the Asterina's hugging all of your zoo's may want to check to see what kind those are. I have heard of them eating a zoanthid or two. Tank looks awesome though. It takes alot of work to manage a tank that small and dedication to make sure that practices are not forgotten. So I would say that you are doing an awesome job.

Thanks all. The Asterinas dont bother those z's at all. They have done a number on the orange ones though. I'm considering getting a harley shrimp to take care of them but what am I going to do with it when the stars are gone. I could just feed it but want to keep the amount of decaying food to a minimum. Having such a small tank I've seen water params go haywire in as little as 1 day. I have a bunch of other pics I can put up later. A couple weeks ago I got to witness all my micro brittle stars having a mating festival. I took some pics and a short video of that event I can put in too. Really cool thing to watch but when they were done clouding up the water I thought..."Man I stick my hands in there"...lol

Holy cow!!! I haven't updated this in a while. My asterinas grew pretty big and started munching trees and all zoas. Not sure how big they can get but I pulled out a couple dozen this size.

There is several hundred tiny white ones and a few dozen large ones still in there so I got this guy a week ago.

He has been munching non-stop since he was added and there is no noticable decline in the star population. If there is no change in a month or two I may get him a mate. Very cool critter...and does the craziest "dance" I've ever seen when he stands over a star. I have a pretty crappy camera for taking videos but I took a few. I'll try to post them up in a minute.

Here is a vid when I released him into the tank. He swam right over to a large star and pulled it off the glass. I ran for the camera and got this shot of him dragging it away for lunch. Must have been hungry.

My hat is off to you for being able to keep a small tank in such great shape for a long period of time. I had a couple of 20s going at one time and ditched them for a larger tank due to the instability of the small tanks.
Great looking setup, and your selection of livestock is very nice.

Thanks. It's a part time job trying to keep up with it. It's going on 3 years old now and as much as I hate to screw with it, I need more room for stuff. I got some plans and thoughts for an upgrade, just dont know how I'm going to go about it though.
