Ok I have one more question about these pumps before I shell out the cash.

Has anyone used the seio before? I hear they dispurse the flow as well as a tunze but don't see a controller for them. Maybe they only run a wavemaker? Anyway, anyones opinion/experience is appreciated.

I've had both Seio's and Tunzes. The Seio's I gave away to a friend the Tunzes I still run. I didn't give away the Seio's because I didn't like them though...I just like my tunzes a bit better and didn't want 2 different looking sets of powerheads in my tank. IMO, the Seio's are a great investment. They have many mounting options that the Tunzes can't compare to. They also have a wide flow (similar to the Tunzes but not as wide IMO) and the price is unbeatable. I mean you are talking about $74 for a Seio giving you 2600 gph and about $259 for a Tunze giving you 1850 gph. Now Tunzes have controllers and have powerheads going right up to about 5,000 gph, but if you aren't looking for that much flow, don't need a controller, and don't feel like forking out major money, then the Seio's are the best way to go . You can't beat the quality for the price.

Like I've said, never had an issue with my Seio's (M820's...820 gph) but I just love my Tunzes! In any event, I'd buy Seio's again...:)

The seio's are not bad for the money.
And the new controller is going to be available very soon.
But you want the best, buy the Tunze.

I don't have either :p :D, but from what i've seen from my Krish it seems like they do a great job.... and he's addicted to flow when it comes to that.

LOL...All I need now is to try out some vortechs!:p

Yeah, that's a cool thread. I've been browsing at it a bit, but don't want to get caught up in those tempting pumps. My wife will kill me if I said I wanted one because I already told her the Tunzes were the best thing on this planet! They're cool though...I must admit

tell her you're getting them because your birth day is coming up pretty soon :D

The Seios and Tunze should be relatively comparable when it comes to flow. They both disperse a super wide wash of flow, as opposed to a normal powerheads coral-tissue-blasting needle jet. The major difference is the controller issue. The Seios are hard to start, and cannot be put on a wavemaker of any sort. The Tunze, on the other hand, are perfect for this. Using Seio myself, I'd like to suggest they're not as reliable as the Tunze, either. I clean mine fairly often just to get the calcium deposits off of the impeller shaft. However, I only paid $30 for my Seio 620s, new.
