September meeting

Well guess we should start this off now - Tim has pistol shoots second and last weekend of the month - I will be in the Riviera Maya the first week in sept from the 2nd to 9th. I will email tim and try to find out if they are on both days or not. Anyone else with bad days post up and any meeting place ideas??

I will cut the rics before I go to Mexico I hope - bubble seems to out and doing good. Zoo's are opening

I had a great time yesterday. Thanks for hosting Brian and thanks to everyone for the treats! Everything made it home with only one leak (soaked a book). I'm also happy to inform everyone that my puffer ate the live brine shrimp that I bought yesterday. It's a major relief. The last weekend is the only bad weekend for me. How about the 24th? I have no problems hosting the meeting if everyone is up for the drive. Also, here's some cool links in case anyone gets bored:

coolben, glad to hear the puffer is eating. you may want to keep trying someother stuff because thier is no real nutritional value in brine shrimp. maybe mix in some mysis or something like that.

Yeah, they usually get frozen prawn, but he stopped eating it. I figured I'd try something living. I still have to get him eating prawn (his favorite) again. I'm less concerned about him being sick/dieing now and leaning more towards him being pissed off about something. I walked away with a lot of good ideas yesterday, so be prepared for some plumbing questions next month. Now that I have an idea about what kind of corals you guys have (because you gave me a lot), I'll keep this in mind during my upcoming shopping sprees.

Kewl - Just as I thought the mod parts showed today:lol: So I will bring it to the next meet. Have plenty of stock to do some comparasons ( got 5 props) It's good to have new members and if everyone is up to go to Bens we could car pool there - maybe meet at my house since everyone knows where it is and plenty of parking. Think the mexico thing is my only time away but just got mail fom my team captain for hockey so don't really know but weekends should be open

My pistol matches are on the second Sat 9 and Sun 10 of the month and only on
the 4th Sundays 24 of the month.

Guess that leaves 16,17 Steve?? Just had power out!! Have a 140w power supply to run off the car so ganged powerheads to it one each tank - well made it but power was not off too long like 2hrs. Gonna get a gen cuz its like twice in the past 2 months Ya never know how long it will be out and they were both shut the grid down outs no studder nothing just out. I don't mind lettin the freshwater sit but the reef kills me.

Well then someone is not making it or has to get a sitter. Will have to wait to hear from Ed and Tim. I just took out the dates people have things going and there is not a clear day this month for everyone.

Or maybe just do one early October since Aug was end of the month. Baptism by fire - put the drain on the skimmer and put in an auto top off to the sump. Amazing what a vacation will prompt you to do when the kids are in charge of the reef - automate as much as possible:lol:

well had the skimmer running a bit rich - filled a 5 gal pail in bout 18 hrs never got the top off water to accumulate since skimmer was killin me - it is starting now just need to get the lights all on timers Pics well pressed for time - leaving tomorrow night so maybe when I get back. Steve seems the WE Fair has a building for 'clubs' maybe next year if we need we could get a spot?? Else vendors spot for builds but may be cost prohibitive. Can you imagine I just passed the spell check cept for 'killin'

I am back from beyond - did my first ever diving excursion:shock: - little freaky at first but turned out good went down bout 30-40ft. I was thinking to get certified so I then thought how bout a group trip to Mexico to get certified?? Takes bout 3-4 days and I am unsure about the # of dives but the first day you do 2 I know of and is open water cert I think since all dives are in the ocean. Anyone interested??? Prolly not till this coming May or next September?? I do not have details but have talked to Alex at the dive shop about it. My wife knows the owner Ralph. I have not talked bout price since I did not know what the interest level would be. The dive shop also has a location on Cozumel supposedly the second best location in the world. Just putting out feelers right now so let me know. I will post the shops web site address as soon as I find it.

As far as the instant mods go well everything worked well. The skimmer pulled maybe 2.5 gal over the week and had decent color so seems to be running pretty well - auto top off has been working also - so will keep this config for now.

I see Steve posted at toofishy.com so if some others could post there about the meeting maybe will get others to come out! And to substantiate that Steve and I do not bite.:lol:

I dont know how you guys do it every date you guys pick is a day the better half is working :lol: :lol: :lol: ... anyway September is a no go for me, to many projects I need to finish, as for October, the 15th or 29th is good for me so I dont have to get a sitter...

Also I just realized I havent said Thanks to everyone at our last visit...and for the goodies.
Most are well except a zoo frag that still has not opened but has not changed in size or shape... Thanks all...

Ahhh yes the project list --- gotta love it. I have one but life happens:lol: I think we just wait till October anyway else have a mini September. The Aug meet was at the end of the month so 15 or 29 can you do sat like 14,28?? Maybe 14 would be good - I am open in Sept and Oct so far cept a weeding here in sept think like 23 or something. I will post some pics of the builds and mods I did before Mexico - very easy stuff just neglected to do it - the lazy in me I guess

PS Ed the Xenia is coming round just fine.

Also everyone just saw that one of the rocks I just got has or is an old colony of small feather dusters with red centers. I will have to watch and adjust the location or orientation so they all can come out. That is one thing with this hobby - never seem to stop finding new life - gotta love it. Will attempt pics

gotta agree brian, the xenias i got from ed are realy taking to my tank. definetly a hardy strain. I plumbed the 75 in and the soldier fish loves it. I stopped by marine fish today and he was closed.????? ed give the zoos some time they will pop open soon enough.
