Setting up a 125g on the cheap -- DIALUP beware

1 used 125g glass tank (Oceanic I think) - $120

3X400W SE used complete setup - $180

2 used MJ1200's - $20 (modded stream style)

DIY stand and hood - $150 or so in wood, screws, paint, and brackets (2X4's, particle board, 1X4's, and 1X6's)

DIY PVC overflow - $20 in PVC parts

1 used Turboflotor T1000 - $20 (now mesh modded and has a 5 inch neck extension for further capacity)

The livestock and LR were from my previous 55g

really nice setup!!! you could probably run those cables tight against the fixture and run them down the back of the tank wothout being seen!!!

Frags are great. That "German" one is really sweet with green/blue flesh and blue/purple polyps.

The slimer is sweet too. That is my first one of those. All the frags are in top condition and doing well in QT. I love that birdsnest too.

what is the size of a 125... looking at some big tanks and im not familiar with tank sizes

standard 125g is 72" long, 22 " tall and 18" deep(width)

Ya made me think about how much rock I got in mine and I took some out and re aquascaped it a bit!

sweet... Any pics of your tank after the aquascaping? I'm really liking the open look of the tank too, especially for a BB, it makes cleaning the glass and vacuuming the bottom such a breeze.

This is what happened to a once very nice colony of purple birdsnest that fell onto a bubble coral during one of my aquascaping escapades. It was on the bubble for 5 seconds tops

and the "killer" bubble
