i have a eclipse 6 gallon that i want to change into a mini reef, what would be the best way to do this? open for suggestions!

Seriously, many ways to accomplish this. Live rock helps, a skimmer would be another path as would live plants. Frequent water changes is easy in a tiny tank. Temperature and water quality stability is important and can be difficult in a small system that is well lit.

I say go for it. Just be sure to get a skimmer, salt obviously and then proper filters and things if you have to change over. Not sure on an eclipse. I have a BioCube 14gal that is Seahorses and we love it. I also have a 28gal nano and again love it. I don't think I will ever go back to fresh water. Take a look at the site JasonD posted that should help answer some questions. Have fun!

With a 6gallon tank i wouldn't use a skimmer. Weekly 5-10% water changes will do the same thing as a skimmer and with the low volume of water a quart or 2 of saltwater won't break your bank.
