I haven't acquired it yet, though it needs some filtration method. It is an Aquapod 12 gallon. Should I insert some for of media, or what? How difficult is it to find a skimmer that small at a reasonable price? Or could I insert Carbon bags and have a good enough effect?

And yes, setting up a reef tank this small is a new concept to me

Oh yeah and I will post something in the equipment thread but does anyone have a double ended 70 watt metal halide bulb they could part with? Thanks

Run chemi-pure elite. Its basically a bag of carbon and GFO. $11 and it works well. Also if you looking for a decently priced nano skimmer, check out the aquatic life 115. I had this and it worked great.

Others might think differently, but in my opinion you don't need to run a skimmer on something that small. I've had my ten gallon running great for quite a while with a HOB filter and some carbon. Keep up the water changes, and make sure your flow is good and it should be fine.

The key is in the tank itself. We have done a ton of research, and it all points to a Nano by Clear Fabrications, Inc. will get you there faster and with less effort. Just a little reef humor, Jason

I have the aquapod 12 gal, as said before its not really nessicary to run a skimmer in there I didnt. Upgrade the return pump though to a maxi 900 or something similar. Also a bag of carbo wouldnt not help it lol.
