ive been reading about rasing them. I have a standard 180G ( 72"x24"x24") with a center over flow. I was thinking of the bamboo variety. possibly from an egg. any thoughts.?

They can and will get to four feet. If you plan on keeping this fish over 18 months the 180 is an unfit home at only 24" front to back.

ok liveaquaria said the minimum is 180g. so I didnt know if that's standard or not. but thank you.

I have a white spot bamboo shark in my 160 gallon tank that is 6 feet by 3 feet. They say most bamboo sharks get 37 inches or so

+1 i dont think a shark like that will get 4-5ft in a home aquarium. I think a big square or round tank would be best though.
