As the title goes, how long can you/should you keep salt before using it (new unopened bucket)

I would think almost Indefinitely if it's sealed and unopened? But I don't know and that's why the question.

TIA

Don't assume that because you haven't opened the bucket it's still sealed and still good.
I use to buy IO, 10 buckets at a time.
Depending on how many tanks I had setup at the time, I'd go through it in 6 to 10 months.
The last time I bought that many buckets it was at the end of 10 months and the last bucket was a solid block of salt.
I didn't use this salt in my tank.
Now I usually buy 4-5 buckets at a time.

well if u can get ocean water and keep it in a sealed drum then it never gose off....

i dont know if just because it becomes a block of salt.. its no good..

i have a few emergency buckets that are solid... when i brake up a piece and use it... after testing... the results are the same...

Ive done it... I dont know if it was bad... i saw no effect...

I agree with you, but when it only cost me $34 delivered, it wasn't worth the risk IMO.
