Nothing I love more than seeing the shimmer some lights give off in aquariums!! Let's see all your shimmer photos!! If you like, you can state which lighting you are using to give you that nice shimmer effect!! :)

I'll go first with two of my old tanks.

My 75gal with dual 250w SE metal halides.

My 24 gal Aquapod I chopped up the backwall in to install an acrylic blue back. Lighting was 150 HQI metal halide.

My tank shimmers like crazy since I got my MH setup, but I can't seem to capture it on a photo. Seems like the blue backround really shows it, but I don't have a backround on this tank, it's just clear.

Yea, you won't see much without a backing for it to reflect off of. Sometimes you can see it on the rocks and stuff, but the background shows up the most IMO. I also think blue shows up better than black too. Didn't have quite the shimmer using metal halides on a tank with a black backing. :)

Its a 55 gal, 48" wide tank. ANd i had already purchased T5's prior to replying to this thread. But i ended up painting my background black and im working on building a hood for the retro-fit T5 kits. I gotta get some pictures up so you guys can see what im up to!! :)
