Since when with Coraline?

O.k...I've got coraline growing on the walls and floor of my sump. It's pinkish/purple. The weird thing is, I have an 18 watt 6700k compact flourescent bulb above it. I thought coraline needed blue spectrum to grow? Anyone else experienced this?

Oh heck yeah! Tons of it all over the sump, skimmer chamber, and refug. I've got one 12' strip flourescent from old freshwater tank. Dosen't get in the way of anything, so live and let live, right?

Yeah man, I have coraline growing in my skimmer, in the sump, every where but my stinking rock. I mean its there but not like the glass and plastic.

If I am not mistaken, coralline likes lower light. I know most of my coralline is faded pink, except in the darker spots in the tank, where it is purple. Not to worry!!!!!!

I've got more coralline growth (and larger radius circles of them) growing in my sump/fuge lit via 55W PC 6700kelvin than in my main tank.

Actually, I prefer that it stay that way

hehe yeah dood, mine is growing on my skimmer, the cup that is for the over flow, in the tooth brushes, powerheads, and some rocks.
i wish i had coralline growing on the back wall of the tank instead is starting to look like i'm growing grass in there

LOL...That's cool I have to go out this weekend an pick up some coraline at low tide to scape and dump the pieces in my tank. I'm ready for it to start growing on the white bottom now. The rocks are spreading nicely, just the base needs to

Just make sure your Ca, Alk, Mg are in balance and you'll have coralline up the wazoo in no time . I think this is the biggest contradiction in this hobby we can't wait for it to start growing, but once it does we just hope it would go away.

I never saw coralline for 6 weeks, just be patient, believe me, soon you will have more than you know what to do with!!!

LOL...I got tons all over my rocks. I may need to sniper a urchin this weekend to spead it on the floor a bit for me

I have a tuxedo urchin (blue with pink red spines) He cuts swaths thru mine, also breaks pieces off and carries them around, with some stinking green star poylops. It is starting to cover my tank floor.

Working pretty well Gabbs. I didn't have any coraline growing in my sump until I started using it. They say coraline likes lower light, but I've got almost double the wattage per gal of light in my sump compared to my tank and it's growing...I want to try that bionic stuff Steve uses. They sell it at Premium Aquatics and I may get some
